BRUNSWICK STEW EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

What is Brunswick stew you ask?? Well, we just happened to find out for ourselves this weekend after a quick trip to Richmond. Fellow northerners can relate...It's a southern dish! Picture this...a giant witch's cauldron set back in the woods with 40 lbs of chicken, 50 lbs of potatoes (which we helped peel), 30 some cans of corn, countless costco size cans of crushed tomoatoes, butter beans (another southern fave), chicken hearts(blah), chicken gizzards (double blah) and whatever random bug or 3 happened to fall in the pot as no less than 2 people stood over the stew stirring with a wooden oar for approximately 5 hours. Oh, and water of course. As for the hearts and gizzards, we were told not to worry. They dissolve to the point you don't know their in there. Yum! The result... an evening of food and drinks to feed at least 150 with leftovers. Now maybe this is not typical of your Brunswick Stew Fests, but what about the Glover's is typical. It was quite a night. Oh yeah, I left out the 4 kegs and port-o-potty. These men are of no relation to Michelle Glover

1st Birthday Celebration.

Everyone warned us how quickly time would fly when you have kids and they were not kidding. We can't believe that we just had Shane's first birthday celebration. He was a bit confused by the candle and was not interested in giving the cupcake a taste, but Mom & Dad had fun playing their role. Sorry all of that only made it to video but Shane did have a little carrot cake celebration with his best buddy Nolan who is only 5 days younger. We look back at pictures of his first year and never remember him being so small. 11 pounds sounds like a feather now! Celebrating at home with Mom & Dad

End of Summer

October already? Well summer didn't turn out too badly after all. A few weekend getaways to the Hamptons and Long Beach, LI made it bearable. And we spent the last bit of summer at our condos in NC with family and really lucked out when Ike decided to change directions. Sorry Texas! Despite the chaos of 7 kids age 5 and under (8th is on the way thanks to my fertile sister) and 9 adults, we really had a blast. It seems Fall is on the verge of breaking through so we can finally get out for some long stoller rides. Heat and Shane do not mix well - we have a sweater on our hands!! Again, who's child is this??? Enjoy and stay tuned for 1st b-day pics.

Summer Fun!

Been very busy this summer. GG and Grandpa Russell came to visit before GG left for her 6 week getaway to Mexico and Peru. We have enjoyed reading about her travels on her groups blog. Then just a few weeks later, Grandpa flew up to NY for another visit with cousin Michael. We had a great time showing Michael around the city. Took the Staten Island ferry so we could get a good view of the Statue of Liberty, went to the Central Park Zoo and even made it to FAO Schwartz. Michael said, "this really is the biggest toy store in the world". He got to play on the piano, similiar to Tom Hanks in the movie "Big". I had my first swim in the pool and really loved it. Boy did I sleep that night!!! I am always meeting new friends and really love new faces. I think I am getting a little bored of Mom and Dad, but don't tell them I said that!!
