Video: Shane's Latest Accomplishment!

He is quite the daredevil, but balance is still terrible. This was a forced attempt by Jason to make him walk on his own. He leaned him on the ottoman with nowhere to go but toward the M&M's and guitar. It worked!!!

Video Part 5: Walking series finale.

START BELOW AT VIDEO 1 FOR THE WEEKS FULL PROGRESSION.
9/09/09-The moment we've been waiting for and were once told might not happen. Shane took his very first steps today during PT. We are beyond excited - just 2 weeks away from his second birthday. I was able to catch it on video the 2nd time around but the first was probably the best and longest of the day. When dad came home we practiced again and again. He knows what he is doing b/c he giggles when we let go of him. He has a long way before he's a free man but here is our best take of the evening.....

Video Part 4: And going....with a not so great ending.

09/06/09 - Here I take a turn for the worst. But balance and focus still on par. Video cuts right before the tears.

Video Part 3: Keep on going...

09/06/09 -Still going strong. I'm showing off for friends now. But can't seem to get the hang of the steering on this thing. I have a nasty left hook.

Video Part 2: The Walker, My new best friend. Or is it?

09/09/09 - So I continued walking this weekend at home with my walker that we've had for some time but would only try to chew when Mom and Dad pulled it out. Now I'm a pro but I was getting a little sick of putting on a show. Though mad, I still look very cute and maintain my new found skill!

Video Part 1: Taking off...

09/03/09 Just one month ago, in late July Shane began cruising. He has discovered all sorts of nooks and crannies in the apartment that he never knew existed. He never did experiment around the apartment much with crawling. This video was taken on September 3rd. It was the first time that Shane really used the walker on his own. Every week for several months they'd pull out the walker during therapy at the Rusk and he used to just yell until we were able to coax him to go a few feet which would take about 15 minutes. I guess he was just finally ready. And maybe the weighted pants they had him wear helped!!!
